Anthony Weiner’s wife is pregnant

August 4, 2011

It should be one of the happiest times of their lives as former congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin prepare to welcome their first child. But the shamed sex-scandal politician, 46, and his wife, 35, looked tired and drawn as she revealed her growing baby bump during a morning stroll in New York on Monday.

Mrs Abedin, a personal aide and deputy chief of staff to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, revealed she was pregnant in the middle of Weiner’s Twitter photo fiasco in June.

The disgraced former congressmen has been staying out the spotlight since his fall from Congress. This is the first time he and his wife have been spotted since they returned from a Miami vacation.Mrs Abedin, in a yellow hoodie and fitted black leggings and flats, was snapped standing arms length from her husband, also dressed down in a T-shirt and jeans. Both went incognito in sunglasses and a baseball cap.

Perhaps it was the lurking paparazzo who snapped their photo that prompted the united couple to withdraw as they continue low profile in the wake of Weiner’s sexting scandal.

The mood appeared distinctly different from the couple’s last public outing, as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary on July 10.

The couple dined at exclusive steakhouse Prime 112 in Miami, Florida, that Saturday night, looking unworried by their recent troubles and looked ‘very affectionate’ and ‘very much in love’ as they dined with each other, according to onlookers.

Mrs Abedin’s baby bump starting to show as the couple went for a late-night walk down Ocean Drive afterwards.

Weiner quit his position as a New York Democrat Congressman in June after a sensational sexting scandal forced him out.

His wife took a couple of weeks off work and Weiner headed to an ‘intense’ rehab programme to help him treat his sexting addiction.

The scandal saw him send lewd messages of himself to at least six women he met on Twitter, and he is now fighting to save his marriage.
Sources close to the couple have reportedly claimed that Mrs Abedin’s devout Muslim family was furious with Mr Weiner over the incidents.

Since the scandal emerged, the couple have kept an extremely low profile and avoided public engagements, making the two public sightings rare events.

Paid $174,000-a-year, Weiner represented parts of New York City in the House of Representatives since being first elected in 1998.
