Swedish prime minister’s son gets job at McDonald’s

The Swedish prime minister’s son, the 18-year-old Gustaf Reinfeldt, has obtained a work place which many teenagers his age can identify: a cook at US hamburger chain McDonald’s, and uses his Twitter feed to invite friends in for a grilled patty: “Drop by and have a hamburger.”

The junior Reinfeldt continued to confirm that he is to ply his trade at the Kungsgatan branch of the global fast-food chain, offering Stockholmers the chance to be served by a member of one of the most well-known families in Swedish society.

The announcement of his forthcoming job in McDonald’s is not the first time that Gustaf Reinfeldt comes into the public view.

In February 2009, he joined a group “Free The Pirate Bay” on Facebook, captivating a highly publicized stand in favor of the controversial founders of the popular file sharing site ahead of their trial for copyright infringements.

Gustaf also participates in the Moderate Party’s youth league Muf, an organization which supports the de-criminalization of file-sharing for personal use.

Notwithstanding the mass media attention and possible PR value of having recruiting the Swedish prime minister’s son, McDonald’s Sweden administration has ignored the weight of the appointment.

“It doesn’t matter who you are or what you are called. He is a team member and we don’t comment on these things,” said McDonald’s Sweden representative.
