Minnesota Twins’,Jim Thome,hits 600 home run mark
Minnesota Twins power-hitter Jim Thome smashed two home runs against the Detroit Tigers on Monday to become just the eighth player in Major League history to reach the career-600 mark.
The 40-year-old slugger, who spent the bulk of his career in Cleveland before bouncing around in his later years, entered Monday’s contest against Detroit with 598 home runs.
Thome launched a two-run shot in the sixth inning before reaching the milestone with a three-run blast an inning later that gave the Twins a 9-5 lead.The Twins were leading the Tigers 9-6 in the ninth.
The last player to join the exclusive club was Alex Rodriguez in August 2010.
